Book design for Xuanzhi Zhang Thesis project
“In Chinese, there is a phrase that says, "foist one's opinions in disguise." Historically, this phrase carried a negative connotation, implying the imposition of subjective views onto an objective description for personal gain. However, through my creative pursuits, I have come to view this phrase in a positive light. By reconciling my design sensibility with external inputs, I have learned to appreciate and incorporate the opinions and requirements of my professors, resulting in better outcomes. As a designer, I believe in the importance of infusing personal style into creative endeavors, even when faced with demanding design requirements. Good designers must find ways to impose their unique vision onto their projects. Therefore, I strive to integrate my personal style while balancing rational external inputs to create compelling and innovative designs.”
